Kaiserbagh Palace Complex
Commissioned by the last Nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah, in 1848, this was once one of the grandest palace complexes in the city. Although much of it was damaged during the colonial era, the surviving structures still offer a glimpse into the opulent royal lifestyle and the Nawab’s harem. The Safed Baradari, a striking white stone pavilion within the complex, remains its most prominent feature and was once used for royal assemblies. The layout originally featured lush gardens, fountains, and marble statues, reflecting the Nawab’s deep patronage of arts and culture.
