The British Residency
A silent witness to the 1857 Indian Rebellion, this complex of buildings served as the residence for the British Resident General and was a major site of the Siege of Lucknow. Today, the ruins are preserved as a National Monument, with bullet holes and cannon marks still visible on the walls. The complex includes a small museum, a church, and a cemetery for those who died during the siege. Set amidst lush, quiet gardens, it offers a somber yet fascinating look into India’s colonial history and the struggle for independence.
