Hussainabad Picture Gallery
Built in 1838 by Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah, this gallery was originally a “Baradari” or summer house before being converted into a cultural institution. It is famous for housing life-size portraits of the Nawabs of Awadh, painted by renowned European and Indian artists between 1882 and 1885. Many of these intricate paintings are noted for featuring optical illusions. The ornate building also displays weapons and miniature paintings, reflecting the opulent lifestyle and artistic taste of the bygone Nawabi era.
